Department ELP Policy
The MIT-WHOI Joint Program only exempts international applicants from the ELP requirement if their primary language is English or they received/will receive a 4-year undergraduate degree from an English-speaking institution in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the U.K., or the U.S within the last 5 years.
We do not exempt international applicants who received an undergraduate degree in a 3-year program.
Dept ELP Waiver Policy
The MIT-WHOI Joint Program does not grant English Language Proficiency test waivers. We are not accepting appeals to this policy at this time. It is required that international applicants must provide sufficient evidence of English proficiency in order to be considered for admission to the MIT-WHOI Joint Program. Please plan to provide test scores in order to submit your application.
Official Transcripts
Official transcripts will be required upon admission to the program. If you are admitted, you will be instructed when and where to submit those. Do not send transcripts to the Joint Program unless you are asked to do so.
