“Leading with care matters because MIT is full of smart and creative people, and the boldness and quality of ideas people are willing to explore depends a lot on whether they feel respected, taken seriously, and supported as whole people. So I believe we should create intellectual and supportive spaces for our students (and then get out of their way so they can do great things). That’s why I structure my classes as conversations and treat students as collaborators.”
