Can I transfer to an MIT graduate program?

Applicants cannot transfer to an MIT graduate program. If you are interested in attending MIT, you must apply through the regular admissions process. If admitted, you would start in the program as a first year and would need to complete all required coursework. MIT does not allow the transferring of class credits from other schools at the graduate level.

Some PhD programs do consider previously earned master’s degrees to count as credit toward your course load if admitted. This condition is determined on a case-by-case basis; applicants cannot request to be considered for this credit prior to being admitted to the PhD program to which you are applying.
