GradThriving: Time Out Tuesdays

Ever get mad when someone tells you to “take a deep breath?” While this comment can be irritating in the moment, slowing our breathing is actually scientifically proven to be one of the best ways to engage our parasympathetic nervous system (the one that calms us down) in times of stress.

May can be a busy time at MIT with deadlines, finals, thesis writing and more. Want to try something that might help?

Join GradSupport Assistant Dean and Certified Yoga Teacher Beth Marois any Tuesday in May for 15 minutes of zoom-based Yoga breathwork, or pranayama. We’ll work on conscious control of breathing to enhance mental and physical well-being, reduce cortisol, and increase energy.

You’ll leave with tools you can use anytime to center yourself, quiet your mind, and reset your focus for a little more space and ease in our mind and body.

As a bonus, you’ll also be automatically entered to win a 30 minute massage. Your nervous system will thank you!
