To retain student status for the fall and spring terms, a student must complete the registration process according to instructions issued by the Registrar’s Office, and pay all Institute charges, or make satisfactory alternative arrangements with Student Financial Services by the deadline.
An individual who has not completed the above steps by the second week of the fall or spring term, including those on registration hold, will be considered a “No Show” and lose student status. Individuals with RA, TA, and IG appointments should note that their appointments will end on the date student status is lost, and that they may not continue to perform employment duties without an active appointment.
If the individual intends to withdraw, they must follow the process described under “Withdrawal and readmission.” If the individual intends to continue in their program, they may use the online registration system until the sixth week of term (Add Date on the Academic Calendar) to submit their registration once any applicable holds have been resolved. After Add Date, a general petition to OGE is required to regain active student status and register for the current term.
Continuing graduate students are not required to register for IAP unless they are taking credit-bearing classes or graduating on the February degree list. Students doing research or thesis work during the summer must register for the summer session. Students with an RA, TA, or IG appointment during the summer session must register for research or thesis units.
See the Registrar’s Office for additional information about student status.
