Biography

Nicole is an undergraduate student in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She will graduate in December 2023 as a Grand Challenge Scholar, Honors Scholar, and Meyerhoff Scholar from the M31 Cohort. She works in the lab as a returning MSRP Intern under the supervision of Michael West and Dr. Federico Tessari. She recently attended ABRCMS 2022 as an oral presenter and travel awardee, showcasing her research from the MIT Media Lab (Biomechatronics Group). Her research interests include health equity of medical technology, health disparities in the US healthcare system, prosthetics, exoskeletons, brain and spine injury rehabilitation, and assistive robotics. After graduation, Nicole will attend SDA Bocconi in Milan, Italy, to obtain a Master’s in International Healthcare Management, Economics, and Policy (MIHMEP) before applying to PhD programs in Medical and Biomechanical Engineering.
