Biography

Jordaina Hewitt is a rising junior at Howard University majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering. She is a part of the Karsh STEM Scholars Program and aims to obtain her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, focusing on sustainability in the built environment. During the summer of 2022, Jordaina participated in the DSSD REU at the University of California, San Diego, which sparked her interest in safety design, sustainability, and computational research. She also serves on the Howard ASCE student chapter E-board as the secretary and is the CEA External Liaison on the CEA student council. Currently, she is working as a student researcher for Dr. Marin at Howard University, creating numerical models to assess the dynamic behavior of masonry chimneys. She enjoys cooking and bringing people together.
