Biography

Jessica Turner is a member of the class of 2024 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), where she studies computer science. She is a Meyerhoff Scholar and a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society and the National Society of Black Engineers. As head teaching assistant for Computer Science 1 at UMBC, Jessica is passionate about teaching and leading students. She has experience researching AI and human-computer interaction at Brown University, Temple University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She hopes that obtaining her PhD in computer science will allow her to profoundly impact the next generation of computer scientists and conduct groundbreaking research to improve technology accessibility for people with disabilities. She enjoys rock climbing, tennis, and ping pong in her free time. She also loves RnB, soul, and jazz music, playing guitar and piano.
