Biography
Ariel Wilcox is a Senior Honors Mechanical Engineering student with an Aerospace concentration and a minor in Applied Mathematics at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. She is from Woodbridge, VA, and is a Future of STEM Scholars’ Initiative (FOSSI) Scholar and a Tomé Scholar. She has done a Mechanical Engineering internship with LyondellBasell, where her projects focused on heat exchangers, piping, and flow accelerated corrosion within the chemical plant. Ariel has participated in a couple of leadership programs, namely the Leadership in Engineers Acceleration Program, and the Global Engineering Leadership Program. She is an active volunteer in her school’s SAE Aero Design team, assisting with manufacturing and data acquisition. Ariel values contributing to the community in the form of tutoring, and values the representation of Black women in STEM. In her free time, Ariel enjoys dancing and listening to music, as well as working on her fantasy novel. Ariel plans to attend graduate school and obtain a MD/Ph.D. in an Aerospace Engineering field. She ultimately wants to contribute to hypersonics research so the consensus can develop more understanding around it, and work with experimental aircrafts.
