Biography

I’m a Junior Political science student at James Madison University. I’m from Williamsburg, Virginia, and for as long as I’ve known, I’ve had a passion for political science, law, economics, and history. In college, I’ve held leadership roles in two student organizations, both related to foreign service and international affairs. I’ve participated in several simulations, ranging from JMU’s Madison Defense Colloquium to the African Union simulation in Washington DC. I was a program scholar for Florida State University’s Donald J. Weidner Summer for Undergraduates Program, which exposed me to the breadth and depth of potential careers in law. I’ve also participated in the Hamilton Lugar / ILSA Undergraduate International Law Moot Court Competition at Indiana University, where my partner and I advanced to quarterfinals. There, we simulated being lawyers for fictional nations at dispute in the International Court of Justice. I’m still deciding what I want to do after graduation, but I’m leaning towards either getting a PhD in political science or going to law school. The idea of conducting and presenting research interests me, because I believe it is a practical way to help solve longstanding and seemingly intransient issues. I hope to gain more critical thinking skills from this program and come out with more clarity on how to meaningfully use what I’ve learned thus far with my education.
