Biography

Kenneth Austin is an aspiring physician-scientist from Hampton University who aims to overhaul the field of cancer by developing innovative combination therapies that involve radiation and can target prevalent cancers in certain minority groups. Kenneth is from Fort Wayne, Indiana, and has lived there for most of his life until going to the illustrious Hampton University in Hampton Roads, Virginia, to pursue a degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology. His devotion to creating change in the healthcare space stems from many years of playing basketball during his childhood and a natural affinity for science, giving him a unique perspective on the importance of a healthy lifestyle. During his time at HU, he completed a two-year internship at the Dartmouth Cancer Center, where he conducted translational cancer research involving radiation to hone his skills for his future aspirations. He also recruits prospective students for the Dartmouth program and was selected earlier this year for an Undergraduate Scholar Award with the American Association of Cancer Research. Additionally, Kenneth is a published first author on research that lays the groundwork for developing new therapies against Chagas disease, a systemic illness that infects millions worldwide each year. Kenneth strives to do his best at everything he does, from getting to know his peers to conducting research that could eventually eradicate cancer once and for all.
