Biography
Hazal Deniz Zenger is a rising senior at Grinnell College studying Physics (B.A). In the summer of 2022, she worked with Dr. Vincent Rodgers at the University of Iowa on Thomas-Whitehead Gravitational Theory, where she developed an appreciation for theoretical physics. Since the fall of 2022, she has been working with Dr. Jane Nachtman at the University of Iowa. Here, Hazal is conducting an efficiency study of FACET – a proposed detector near CMS in the LHC – looking for long-lived particles. At MSRP, she worked on electron cavities for Project 8 neutrino mass experiment under Prof. Formaggio. She hopes to get her Ph.D. in high energy physics and join the research on neutrinos.
Born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey, Hazal is a fierce supporter of women’s rights in the Middle East and aspires to set a precedent for girls interested in Physics. She also loves Philosophy, which she believes is crucial to understand and advance quantum mechanics.
