Biography

Joey Do is a junior at the University of Michigan, majoring in Public Policy (concentration: Economics) and Quantitative Methods of Social Science. Born and raised in Vietnam, Joey is dedicated to promoting cultural diversity and fostering interactions between Eastern and Western values. At Michigan, Joey serves as the Asia regional editor for the Michigan Journal of International Affairs, amplifying diverse voices. She also worked as a Diplomacy Lab researcher for the U.S. Department of State, focusing on humanitarian aid. Recently, she has been working with Professor Paul Schuler at the University of Arizona, analyzing the impact of education policy expansion on political participation using the RD method. In 2023, she received the Extended Research Project Award from the Ford School for these contributions. At MIT, Joey works with Professor Daniel Hidalgo to create interactive visualizations of Brazilian electoral and 3D geospatial data for over 110,000 polling stations, leveraging her data visualization and analytical skills. After graduation, she aims to pursue a PhD in Political Science to research post-colonial politics and political economy, with a focus on quantitative methods.In her free time, Joey enjoys exploring museums and discovering coffee shops in Hanoi.
