She is a member of the Meyerhoff Scholars Program and the U-RISE Scholars program, working to increase underrepresented minority students in Ph.D. degrees and research careers. She aims to pursue a Ph.D. in chemical engineering and explore the intersection between technology and the life sciences. She was first exposed to research when she tested and compared the virulence of different Klebsiella Pneumoniae strains at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. Evalynn continued exploring research at Baylor College of Medicine, where she worked to elucidate the pathway that controls the activity of NIX and NIX-mediated mitophagy in immune cells.
