MIT Department: Mechanical Engineering
Status: PhD Student

I’m David, a third year graduate student in mechanical engineering and naval architecture, where I was an undergrad and also just completed my Master’s. My research interests are in fluid mechanics, ship hydrodynamics, specifically ocean wave interactions and high speed ships, stochastic theory, and nonlinear system modeling and instrumentation. Outside of my research, I’m a competitive sailor, a photographer, enjoy discussing psychology and philosophy, and building all manner of engineering side projects. I enjoy collaborating and generally having creative and free discussions with anyone about anything, and hope to pass on some of my experiences, gain perspective from others, and generally help foster those sorts of interactions.
