As a student of Chemical, Biochemical, and Environmental Engineering at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), I have been involved in research projects on modeling prostate cancer in rats (genomic engineering), analyzing the morphology of fungal mutants for large scale bioreactors, and creating coacervate core micelle technologies to treat chemical warfare agents. Following a year-long internship at a hospital and my subsequent studies, I am interested in pursuing a Ph.D., specializing in the manipulation of stem cells to synthetically engineer organs. I have lived and traveled around the world, and enjoy meeting and learning from people of different backgrounds. When I am not studying or in the laboratory, I enjoy teaching, powerlifting, playing soccer, acting, and singing.
