It is a place to build community, share resources, and keep you up to date on MIT family-specific policies and programs as well as events happening in the wider community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/oge.mit.edu\/families\/sign-up-for-the-grad-families-newsletter\/\" style=\"border-radius:50px\">Sign up for the newsletter<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Grad Families events<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The events hosted for MIT student parents vary from year to year, but here are some of our past offerings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>MIT Families welcome event (orientation event to kick off the academic year!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student parent coffee hour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finals week lunch &amp; aromatherapy activity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grad Families spring fling (part of Grad Student Appreciation Week)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mother&#8217;s Day lunch for grad moms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Father&#8217;s Day coffee for grad dads<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Grad Families programs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Student parent connections<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This lunch activity is a great way for student parents to meet each other! Fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/airtable.com\/app5pIdvwrpFCDQsa\/pag8cDpjlvgZWSdzr\/form\">interest form<\/a> to be matched with another student parent and we will give you $35 Tech Cash to pay for lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Open climbing at Rock Spot<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Want to try rock climbing? MIT student parents and their children (age 4 years and up) can climb at Rock Spot in Brookline, paid for by the Office of Graduate Education. Reach out to <a href=\"mailto:gradfamilies@mit.edu\">gradfamilies@mit.edu<\/a> for details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ice skating tickets<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In the winter, the Office of Graduate Education has ice skating tickets available for MIT student parents and their family to go ice skating at the on campus rink during &#8220;general skate&#8221; times. Please reach out to <a href=\"mailto:gradfamilies@mit.edu\">gradfamilies@mit.edu<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"mit-policy-advocacy\">MIT policy advocacy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"grad-student-council-housing-community-affairs-family-committee\">Grad Student Council: Housing, Community Affairs &amp; Family Committee <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The GSC HCA &amp; Families Committee is always seeking new members. The HCA &amp; Family Committee has worked to increase family housing options, advocate for affordable childcare options, maintain high-quality and affordable health care options, and improve campus safety for families.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"\" style=\"border-radius:50px\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Learn more about the GSC HCA &amp; Families Committee<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"the-council-on-family-and-work\">The Council on Family and Work <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This council monitors the quality of life at MIT and shares its impressions with senior administrators, key committees, and the larger community. This committee includes two graduate students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/gsc.mit.edu\/list-of-institute-committees\/\" style=\"border-radius:50px\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Learn more about the Council on Family and Work<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"local-area-community-building\">Local area community-building<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Outside of MIT, there are additional spaces where you can find community.
