Department: Urban Studies And Planning
Hometown: Busan, South Korea
GCF Position: ISO Programming & Events
As a GCF, I have assisted with organizing ISO (International Students Office) programs and events for international graduate students as well as visiting students. I have also coordinated programs designed to help international students to acclimate to campus, including International Council Meetings and International Coffee Hour, as well as worked closely with a fellow member specializing in publicity and communications in order to support marketing ISO events via the e-newsletter.
How does your GCF project enhance the graduate student community?
The ISO has provided me with an ideal environment for helping to cultivate a campus that’s friendlier to international students. Working as a member of the GCF, I have planned and assisted with a range of social events, including an orientation event, ice-cream socials, the Navigating MIT Dinner Series, a Persian New Year gathering, and a Korean Lotus Lantern Festival event.
What is your favorite part of working in your GCF position?
My favorite part of working with the GCF has been collaborating with the ISO Programming Administrator, GCF students, and MIT affiliates.
