Sam Mahle

Department: Technology and Policy
Hometown: Springboro, Ohio
GCF Position: GSC Creative Media Manager

I am responsible for communicating events pertinent to the graduate community. I use graphic design and social media to create posters and post announcements about the events. I work closely with the Graduate Student Council to stay informed about all of the events and ensure they are advertised effectively.

Sam uses graphic design and social media to connect MIT graduate students.

How does your GCF project enhance the graduate student community?

This role gives me the opportunity to creatively convey major events that helps connect the students of the MIT graduate community. MIT’s graduate program structure is inherently somewhat disconnected due to all of the various labs and departments, and by informing students about events can help bridge this disconnect and enhance the graduate student culture.

What is your favorite part of working in your GCF position?

The position allows me to exercise my creative muscles in a meaningful way. It is an important outlet in an otherwise stressful, logic/reason-focused environment.
