Katherine Mizrahi

GCF Position: OGE Diversity Initiatives Recruitment

I work in Diversity Initiatives with the Office of Graduate Education. My main project focuses on scheduling, leading, and quantitatively tracking the success of Graduate Catalyst workshops. At these workshops, carried out both in person and online, I work to help prospective graduate students learn about the graduate school application process and opportunities in order to strengthen their graduate school and fellowship applications.

Katherine works to help underrepresented minority applicants strengthen their graduate school and fellowship applications.

How does your GCF project enhance the graduate student community?

The purpose of the project is to hopefully increase the amount of underrepresented minority applicants to graduate school in general. If successful, hopefully graduate schools will become more diverse and equitable, including MIT.

What is your favorite part of working in your GCF position?

I enjoy actively contributing to diversity and inclusion efforts at MIT. As a Hispanic immigrant, I know that these initiatives can have a large impact on the outcome of a students application process and academic career.
