As graduate students may have heard, MIT Medical Director Cecilia Stuopis and Chancellor Cynthia Barnhart established a committee to consider our policies and processes regarding mental health hospitalization and involuntary medical leave for students because these are serious issues that warrant a comprehensive review by our community. The charge to the committee, which is being led by Professors Rebecca Saxe and Laura Schulz from the department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, is available here. Listen and lend your voice at a town hall tonight in Room 4-370 at 7 p.m.! Graduate students can discuss their experiences and any suggestions for change.
You can also contribute to this critical process in the following ways:
- An online survey which can be submitted anonymously;
- Sending an email to email@example.com; or
- Reaching out directly to a member of the committee (see full roster here)
Enhancing our policies depends on as many graduate students as possible to engage with the committee in this important work.
