Last summer, Jay O’Hara and Ken Ward anchored their lobster boat in the path of a coal freighter on its way to the largest coal plant in the Northeast. At their trial last month, they argued that their actions were necessary to prevent the greater danger of climate change. This led District Attorney Sam Sutter to drop their criminal charges because “climate change is one of the gravest crises the planet has ever faced.” At this panel discussion featuring Jay O’Hara, Ken Ward, DA Sam Sutter, and Marla Marcum, hear the story and take part in the conversation about the role of civil disobedience in defense of the climate. The panel will take place in 6-120 on Monday, October 27, 6 PM-7:30 PM. Photo by Thomas.
