IMES Broshy Fellowship 2015: Apply by Oct. 17

The purpose of the Broshy Graduate Fellowship in Medical Engineering and Science is to support the research and education of an exceptional graduate student whose work focuses on a novel, interdisciplinary project that has a good likelihood of being translated into an innovative commercial product and/or service that positively impacts health care outcomes and cost.  The Broshy Fellow will receive $50,000 for one year toward support of her/his stipend and tuition, and research. Any MIT graduate student in good standing, pursuing either a Masters or a Doctoral degree, and who has completed at least one year of study at MIT is eligible. Photo by Mer Chau.

The application must contain the following elements:

1] A nomination by the faculty advisor of the student, describing the academic achievements of the candidate and why her/his project has a reasonable chance of being translated in to a commercial product that will advance human health.

2] A two-page description of the project and work planned in the next year prepared by the student candidate.

3] The candidate’s CV and MIT transcript.

The application materials should be submitted by email ( as a single PDF using the student’s last name and first initial followed by “_BroshyFellow2015” in the document name. (example: LastNameFirstInitial_BroshyFellow2015.pdf). Applications are due by October 17, 2014.  The successful candidate will be notified in early December. The Fellowship would begin January 16, 2015.

Candidates will be evaluated by a panel made up of MIT faculty drawn from diverse departments.  The 2014 panel is comprised of the following individuals:
