The Todai Innovation Summer Program (TISP) is a two-week program for students from both outside Japan and the University of Tokyo to experience classes, workshops and field research to hone their innovation skills in Tokyo and the Tohoku region (a disaster-struck area in the north-east of the country). The program is built on two themes: Japanese culture and Tohoku issues. The mission is to help participants develop skills around innovation as well as help solve social problems. The program will take place from Wednesday, July 30th to Wednesday, August 13th, 2014. 30 international students and 30 Todai students will be selected. Both masters and PhD students enrolled in a university, including those who will graduate in June 2014, are eligible to apply. The application deadline is Monday, March 31st, 2014. Apply online. Candidates selected by Todai to participate in the program will be eligible for an ODGE internal competition for airfare sponsorship. The top graduate student applicant will receive ODGE sponsorship for one coach class round trip airline ticket. More details will be made available in late May or early June upon the completion of Todai’s selection process. More information about the program is available online.
