Three MIT grad students receive Gates Millennium Scholarship

Phillip H. Daniel, Stephen J Maouyo, and Folkers E. Rojas have received the Gates Millennium Scholarship. The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program selects 1,000 talented students each year to receive a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice. Since its inception, the program has produced over 16,000 scholars who have attended over 1,800 institutions of higher education. Students can pursue up to a doctoral degree in any of the following disciplines: computer science, education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health or science. The scholars are provided with personal and professional development through leadership programs along with academic support throughout their college career. Daniel is set to start his academic career in 2013 in Mechanical Engineering (MechE) while Maouyo and Rojas started in 2012 in The Engineering Systems Division (ESD) and Mechanical Engineering (MechE).
