Kuang Xu, Presidential Fellow, is a student in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department. His research focuses on cloud and distributed computing, and understanding the performance implications of centralized computing. He is one of five graduate students who make up the fourth cohort of Xerox Fellows, honored on October 13, 2011, who focus their research on areas such as green technologies, imaging and smart-document technology, nanotechnology and systems design. The award supports top-tier students in the School of Engineering, especially underrepresented groups, and connects them with Xerox professionals who serve as mentors through the fellowship year. The students are also invited to spend the summer working at one of Xerox’s four research centers worldwide.
